Rockstar Games is on the lookout for a talented Infrastructure Systems Engineer who possess a passion for IT. Working with our global studios, this is a full-time permanent position based out of Rockstar's unique game development studio in the heart of Carlsbad, CA.

WHAT WE DO

  • The Rockstar Games IT team delivers global systems infrastructure to the development teams.
  • We maintain our infrastructure to the highest standard, with an emphasis on preventative actions rather than reactive.
  • We constantly review our processes with the aim of automating wherever possible.
  • We are a team spread across 3 continents, that work closely together, to achieve our goals to a high standard, always.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for all corporate Infrastructure, including but not limited to all Hardware, Network, Storage, Hypervisors, and other connected systems at both the studio and data center levels.
  • Architect, design, procure, install, deploy physical hardware in both studios and datacenters.
  • Provide and maintain the compute necessary for all virtualized and physical development automation workloads.
  • Establish Studio and Data Center infrastructure standards, including structured cabling, access networking, rack and room sizes, etc.
  • Ownership of all back end storage, current and legacy, SAN, NAS, NFS, S3, local, backups, etc.
  • Deployment, maintenance and patching of VMware (IT Services) and Nutanix (Development Automation).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 5+ years' experience in the IT industry.
  • Data Center experience with a strong understanding of environmental (power and cooling) and physical construction/management (structured cabling, hardware lifecycle and organization).
    • Physical Hardware Knowledge - (CPU, Disks, Networking tech, etc.).
    • Knowledge of modern storage. SAN, NAS, S3 (Pure, Dell, Cloudian).
  • Ruckus ICX/Cisco networking/Meraki/Brocade/Comsope
    • Knowledge of general networking layer 2/3.
    • Palo Alto Firewalls and Panorama administration.
    • WAN acceleration technology experience (Silverpeak/Riverbed/Citrix).
  • VMware/Nutanix/OpenStack/Linux KVM Hypervisor, installation, and administration.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum/Waterfall or Sprints project management methodologies.
  • Industry standard qualifications MCSE/CCNA/VCP or industry equivalent are advantageous but not essential.

SKILLS

  • Self-motivated & confident.
  • Experience with taking projects from proof of concept to planning through to completion.
  • Ability to handle high pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team or individually as required.
  • Excellent documentation skills with high attention to detail.
  • Capacity to juggle a mixture of break-fix and project work, managing individual priorities and deadlines.
  • Willingness to occasionally work flexible hours, or out of hours as required.

  • Industry standard qualifications MCSE/CCNA/VCP or industry equivalent are advantageous but not essential.
  • Windows server installation and administration (Active directory, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS, DFS/R, Office 365).
    • Infrastructure monitoring (Datadog/New Relic/CheckMK/Nagios).
  • Linux configuration and administration skills (RHEL/Ubuntu).
  • Administration experience with Atlassian stack (Confluence/Jira).
  • Application and web service administration (IIS/Apache/Tomcat).
  • Version control system exposure (Perforce/GIT/Subversion).
  • Experience using/supporting enterprise monitoring tools (Elasticsearch/Splunk).
  • Containerization administration and configuration (Docker/Kubernetes).
    • Scripting skills (Powershell/Bash/Python/C#).
    • Experience with configuration management and Infrastructure as Code (Puppet/Chef/Ansible).
    • Cloud technology experience with GCP, AWS or Azure.

The pay range for this position in San Diego at the start of employment is expected to be between the range below* per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
