Senior Full Stack Engineer @ Merlyn Mind - Irvine, CA

Merlyn Mind is a "Remote First" VC-backed AI EdTech startup that brings the latest advances in AI to Education to help improve the lives of teachers and ultimately the learning outcomes of their students. Our leadership team includes talents from IBM, Amazon, Facebook, Roku, Broadcom, HP, Allen Institute for AI, and more. We have come together to build on a unified product experience for an extremely urgent mission – building a digital assistant for teachers, to untether teachers from the desk and help them with managing classroom technologies.

As a Full Stack Engineer, you will play a vital role in our AI Solution team, working closely with cross functional teams to customize and deliver high quality products to our clients. You will be responsible for the technical delivery of Merlyn products, ensuring seamless collaboration with machine learning engineers, platform engineers, and other teams. Your expertise will be crucial in providing technical solutions based on our AI Solutions and ensuring the reuse of models, tools, and code for future pre-sales conversations.

What You’ll Do

• Collect customer requirements and identify technical solutions.
• Work with the AI Platforms team to customize and deliver product solutions.
• Provide information about products or services to potential clients, including demonstrations of new products or services.
• Lead the technical delivery of PoCs to customers.
• Collaborate with machine learning engineers, platform engineers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product delivery.
• Document best practices, guidelines, and standard operating procedures for the platform.
• Ensure the reuse of models, tools, and code for pre-sales conversations in the future.
• Create and maintain web applications using technologies like TypeScript.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs for efficient data communication.
• Design, optimize, and secure relational and NoSQL databases.
• Collaborate with UX/UI specialists to create user-friendly interfaces.
• Ensure application reliability through thorough testing and debugging.
• Maintain clear documentation for code, APIs, and system architecture.
• Work with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• In-depth understanding of distributed systems, horizontal scaling, caching, micro-service architecture, and robust system design.
• Experience with containerization and container orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker,
• Kubernetes, Airflow) and their application to machine learning workflows.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for automated model training and deployment.
• Familiarity with data storage solutions and database technologies commonly used in machine learning and data workflows.
• Basic understanding of DevOps principles and practices.
• Strong problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools (e.g., Git, GitHub Actions).
• Expertise in React, JavaScript, Kotlin, and TypeScript for front-end development.
• Deep knowledge & expertiseof Web / JS ecosystem (unit test, coverage, linters)
• Strong proficiency in AWS services for cloud infrastructure.
