Our dedicated teams work collaboratively and in partnership with family members, school administrators and faculty, county social workers, case managers, probation officers and other agencies.JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the on-going supervision and training of Safety Specialists as it pertains to general safety procedures, safety policies, vehicle safety procedures, etc. In addition, this position is responsible for the on-going training of all facility staff as it pertains to ProAct and must maintain a valid certification as “ProACT Instructor” for the facilities. The Safety Specialist Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, training and providing for a high level of customer service through maintaining a safe environment for all clients, visitors, staff and physicians. The position is responsible for training and implementation of policies and procedures that facilitate the appropriate screening of incoming clients/visitors for contraband and implementation of appropriate P&Ps related to client property inventory practices as well as the monitoring of surveillance equipment. The position is responsible for training and implementation of policies and procedures that facilitate the controlled access to the facilities, directing of incoming clients, conducting of physical security checks of the facilities’ grounds, and responding to fires and/or emergencies at the facilities. This position is responsible the on-going coordination of overall safety outfitting and maintenance for all vehicles. Is responsible for the on-going training of staff that are assigned to drive vehicles as it pertains to pre-driving safety checks, reporting vehicles issues, logging of such, etc. She/he confirms and arranges all maintenance services and cleaning of vehicles. Is responsible for organizing and providing the vehicle safety notebooks, updated proof of insurance, and vehicle safety checklists in each vehicle. This position is also responsible for communicating safety trends, discrepancies, suggested improvements, etc. to the Assistant Administrator and or Program Director as necessary to maintain a safe and positive facility environment and vehicle operations.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years relevant experience in Mental Health Field OR AA degree in a related mental health field and one (1) year relevant experience in Mental Health Field.
Supervisory experience required.Note:
Relevant experience refers to experience in working with severely emotionally disturbed children and/or adults in an inpatient or outpatient setting, hospital setting, or setting where safety and security were primary focus.
License or Certification
Valid California Driver's License and clear DMV printout.
Valid certification as ProACT Instructor for the facilities.
Valid Security Guard Registration with California BSIS (Bureau of Security and Investigative Services) OR commitment to register as a Security Guard with California BSIS within 90 days of employment required.
Ability to interact and communicate both verbally and in writing with seriously emotionally disturbed adolescents, adults, other staff and the public in a positive manner.
Ability to understand and work with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds in a positive manner.
Ability to visually and audibly assess client's behavior and needs.
Ability to physically perform containment, escort, and restraint procedures.
Ability to physically assist in lifting and carrying assaultive clients weighing up to 200 lbs.
Ability to walk and run.
Ability to drive clients.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, up to 3 hrs. at a time.
Ability to complete ProAct trainings and implement physical techniques (i.e. Evasion/ Sitting/ Standing/ Floor) to become certified.POTENTIAL JOB HAZARDS:

1. Manages the overall milieu in the facility and general operations to facilitate quality client care and optimum facility operations on their shift or as assigned by management. Provides on-going training of all facility staff as it pertains to ProAct.
