Senior Media Producer

The Senior Media Producer independently leads the creation of digital time-based media production, publication, and maintenance at the Hammer Museum. This role is a leading member of a team that executes the museum's ambitious and growing video program, which includes the production of original multimedia content, live online programming, and a robust online media archive. Working closely with the communications team, content specialists, and senior leadership, the Senior Media Producer is responsible for leading the creative direction of the museum's overall long-term video production strategy, a key aspect of the overall promotion of the museum's brand, exhibitions, artists, and activities.
The Senior Media Producer is responsible for all technical media production and online video platforms to support the museum's ability to adapt to the quickly changing landscape of digital and online video. The producer is accountable for producing video and other time-based media within the arts and culture sector, and can negotiate among the goals of multiple and varied stakeholders, including curators and contemporary artists, to develop creative solutions.
With direction from the Associate Director, Digital Content, the Senior Media Producer sets high-level strategy, creates and enforces production schedules; produces, develops, and manages all methods, materials, and techniques used for multimedia productions; is responsible for negotiating media licenses and contracts; manages a budget for equipment and video production; and assigns production tasks to crew members as needed. The Producer also makes decisions about the workflow of video production, and the distribution and retention of multimedia assets, coordinating with the Digital Asset Manager, Audio-Visual department, the Information Technology department and other stakeholders.

Minimum five to seven years experience producing time-based media and managing digital media platforms; preferably in museums, arts, culture or other relevant subject area
Required
BA in communications, journalism, media, film, marketing or other comparable program of study
Required
Advanced knowledge of digital media production and post-production techniques, software, and standards
Required
Advanced technical ability and knowledge of digital platforms, applications, and tools; excels at quickly mastering emerging technologies
Required
Demonstrated experience managing multimedia projects in a production environment using numerous distribution channels such as social media, web, live video, etc.
Required
Experience with live video productions, including live video streaming equipment, platforms and production methods, and live video production and equipment for social media distribution
Preferred
Minimum five to seven years' experience leading concept development, script/storyline development, interview protocol writing, and other pre-production writing, planning, and budgeting experience

Experience conducting and recording audio and video interviews

Experience working and collaborating with living artists

Knowledge of and experience using a wide variety of equipment needed for the creation of media productions, such as studio cameras, field cameras, video switchers, nonlinear editing software, audio boards, routers, and Windows or Apple computer systems

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines, while working on multiple projects with shifting priorities

Experience supervising quality control on creative projects; ability to give direction and oversee production aspects carried out by consultants and other team members

Experience communicating directly with high-level stakeholders, such as executive director, major donors, high-profile artists, and celebrities

Demonstrated ability to speak one-on-one or to a group to discuss and/or present designs and layouts to persons with varying levels of digital media knowledge.

Proficient technical ability and knowledge of online software tools; ability to quickly master new software tools; ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues; working experience and thorough knowledge of a variety of applications including but not limited to Content Management System and database administration; familiarity with HTML

Skill and experience writing metadata to optimize search engine results to ensure content access is optimized for key audiences and user groups
