Shelter Assistant - Veterans Bridge Home - Weekend Day Shift
Shift: Saturday/Sunday - 7:00am - 3:30pm

Carlos Lopez & Associates is hiring On-site Support Staff for a new Veterans Bridge Home located on the campus of the Greater Los Angeles VA Medical Campus. Our Support Staff can make significant changes in the lives of homeless Veterans by doing even the smallest of tasks.
The primary role of Support Staff is to offer assistance, support, and encouragement to all Veteran clients in the facility by helping to meet immediate basic needs, assisting with daily activities, assisting meal providers and other sub-contractors, limited cleaning, minimal laundry and performing general administrative functions. The Support Staff follows established low barrier guidelines to create a safe and stable environment for residents entering the program.
This position will be report to the Program Director and will be supported by a Clinical Supervisor and Case Managers. Food and beverage services, janitorial services, laundry services and Security will be sub-contracted to outside agencies.
We are looking for someone with sensitivity, great communication skills, patience, kindness, understanding, is an advocate, is resourceful, is quick to act, and thinks on their feet. We also require:
- High school diploma, and or equivalent, and one (1) year of continuous experience working in support of homeless populations.
- Ability to effectively communicate in verbal, written and electronic mediums.
- Strong teamwork orientation.
- Willing to work with individuals who may have mental health, chemical health or physical disabilities.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
