The Director of Engineering will help us create new products as well as evolve and upgrade our existing products in the Spirent TestCenter product portfolio with a specific focus on Firmware Platforms. He/She will provide technical and technology leadership to his/her team, specifically working to overhaul firmware development environments, processes, and systems. Lead and manage teams of product development and verification engineers with responsibility for multiple products
Collaborate with product managers and product owners on product strategy and follow through to execution
Work with product owners, architecture and multiple engineering teams on resourcing, schedule, scope, and project-related decisions
Recruit additional engineering talent to grow the team
Coach team members for their technical and career growth
Promote a strong engineering culture rooted in customer focus, design thinking, and obsession with craft
Create a firmware development environment enabling early development and test of software without requiring target hardware
Instill development discipline with design reviews, code reviews, and developer delivery of automated acceptance tests
Lead root-cause analysis for selected reliability issues and deliver fixes
Ensure that customer issues are resolved in a timely manner
Education: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field
Minimum 15 years of relevant work experience, specifically in a new product development company
Minimum 7 years of leadership experience managing engineering teams working on new product development
Software craftsmanship practices

Multi-site management - multiple distributed teams
New product development - from concept to delivery
Firmware / embedded software development
C/C++, Python for systems programming
Multi-threading, multi-core programming
Excellent communications skills
