Woman Suffers ‘Significant Bite Injuries’ in Florida Alligator Attack

A woman has been airlifted to a hospital after she was bitten by an alligator in Florida, according to the Brevard County Fire and Rescue service. Position Summary:
Kickserv’s Technical Director (Tech Lead, Lead Software Engineer) is the last word on all technical aspects of Kickserv: web applications, mobile apps, and infrastructure. The Technical Director works with other members of Kickserv’s Executive Team (Product, Sales & Marketing, Customer Success, and Support) to determine Kickserv’s goals and priorities. In turn, all Kickserv engineers look to the Technical Director for code review, mentorship, and team guidance and strategy.

Key responsibilities

  • Mentor and directly manage a team of 3-6 engineers

  • Understand the Kickserv problem space and look for solutions to make our users’ jobs easier

  • Work with the Product Manager to ensure that your team has actionable, well-defined tasks for each sprint and strategic, achievable goals for each quarter Help developers solve technical challenges in all areas of Kickserv software

  • Help the support team identify problem areas and suggest improvements

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and software development best practices

  • Identify opportunities to eliminate technical debt


Qualifications
Essential Skills

  • Experience leading a widely scattered engineering project or team (you’ll work with people from San Francisco to Dallas to Minneapolis to Bulgaria and Ecuador)

  • Familiarity with our development tools: Ruby, Rails, React, React Native, Git

  • A desire for team code ownership: test-driven development, literate code, code reviews, pair programming

  • Experience with project management and ticketing systems (we use JIRA) to organize work into sprints

  • Experience running a production SaaS application on a cloud hosting provider (AWS is preferred, but not necessary)

  • Bachelor's of Computer Science or equivalent degree in technology-related studies; MS in technology related field; or Bachelor's in unrelated area accompanied by multiple years of proven work experience in technology leadership


Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with, and interest in, current and emerging open-source technologies and trends

  • Experience running production services using a variety of AWS offerings: RDS, Lambda, Elastic Beanstalk, ECS

  • Experience with monitoring tools, like New Relic, and alerting to ensure our customers experience the level of service and reliability they expect
