Job Description

Job Title: Credentialing Analyst
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Medical Staff Services Director, responsible for implementing credentialing activities according to expectations defined by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and regulatory agencies. Responsible for managing, gathering, researching, screening, and updating physician credentials for appointment and reappointment. Prepares summary evaluations of practitioner credentials for Committee review, including proctoring and quality review results. Actively participates in outstanding customer service behaviors and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. The Credentialing Analyst reports to the Medical Staff Services Director.
Essential Job Duties: 
Demonstrates and understands the various procedures within the department. 
Timely and efficiently process initial and reappointment applications to the Medical Staff within established guidelines, Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules & Regulations, Accreditation Standards, Title 22, and related compliance standards. 
Timely and efficiently prepares agenda items and other information as necessary for credentialing review and approval; attend meetings and prepare minutes as needed; notifies appropriate Chairs of completed applications and obtains their evaluation of each. 
Maintain the current proctoring process and maintenance of data entry for updates within the credentialing database for timely report generation as needed. 
Timely and efficiently verifies information through the required and/or established verification entities (e.g., Medical Board, NPDB, OIG, etc.) and obtains references when necessary. 
Timely and efficiently prepares and distributes reappointment packets within the required timeframe. 
Timely and efficiently files all correspondence and documents relating to credentialing.

Education/Experience: 
High school graduate or equivalency required. 
Minimum of three years of Medical Staff credentialing required, two years in an acute care setting preferred. 
Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements (TJC, CMS, Title 22, etc.) 
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Credentialing and EMR databases. 
Ability to formulate routine reports and correspondence.
Licensure/Certifications: 
Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM), Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS), or Associate Degree preferred.
