Description:
PingWind is looking for an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer to assist in the design and delivery of complex technical systems and applications to a government customer. This role will give you an opportunity to work with many different teams across the organization and leverage a range of technologies and systems to deliver solutions. The position will include:
Deploy and maintain cloud-based compute, storage, and network at the needs of application development teams, assuring minimal impact to customers on downtime, or security threats. Additionally, assure proper deployment of resources to reduce costs while maintaining expected levels of performance for the customer.
Must pass a VA background investigation/ This is a part-time 1099 role for about 5-10 hours per week. . Requirements:
DESIGN AND EXECUTION – 50%
- Create automated processes to simplify daily tasks performed by the operations team, to include Ec2, S3, and RDS deployment and management, as well as common administrative tasks
- Maintain security on non-AWS managed compute environments, such as assuring proper network security configurations, keeping permeant virtual Machines up to date with security patches, and controlling access to cloud infrastructure management consoles
- Perform cost savings analyses by monitoring hardware performance metrics, and recommending optimizations where needed
- Maintain Microsoft Active Directory, including management of user and machine accounts, as well as deploying/maintaining relevant Group Policy Objects as needed to align with security requirements
- Perform risk management on non-secure deployments, and remediate out of line assets
SUPPORT – 30%
- Provide operational support to customers, identifying issues with network, compute, and OS configurations
- Provide disaster recovery operations on data frameworks
- Perform root-cause analyses in the event of infrastructure failure
Documentation – 20%
- Create common troubleshooting guides on the team intranet
- Create continuity documentation for the team on deployment, security, and best practices when operating in the cloud
SKILLS
- Communication – Exhibit clear, specific communication, to gather relevant information from customers, and report relevant operational information to leadership.
- Self-Motivation – Exhibit self-motivation through goal setting, problem solving, and education in an environment where you are the technical expert
- Technical Skills – Maintain current industry skills, best practices and project specific skills
- Analytical - Responsible for analyzing the current state of the AWS cloud environment, and making relevant changes to align with customer and enterprise goals
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ months experience within the AWS cloud in a corporate environment
- AWS Associate or higher certification
- 2+ Years of experience in network, Windows, or Linux administration
- Experience in python, C#, Go, Java, Node.js, Powershell, or Ruby
