User Interface Engineer
Our company makes engineering software used in the oil and gas and geothermal industries. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the front-end. Want somebody with technical chops to build UI in Angular, and also appreciation for what the user sees and experiences.
Our core technology is a computation engine that runs an Azure. Users have a locally installed UI that they use to set up computations, manage results, and do 3D visualization and a variety of other plots. We've had a couple outside contractors developing the UI, and they've done a good job, but we now want someone who can take on a full-time role indefinitely. You'll work closely with a team of about five of us, who have different roles in developing the tech. There are about 10 others in the company who are more client facing and provide engineering services. Your role would also interface with clients, though, cause would like you to talk to users, and find out how we can continue to improve.
We need somebody who can take ownership of the UI, and handle continuous improvement, talk to users and figure out how we make it better, and ongoing new feature development.
The Angular front end sits on Electron, and makes calls back and forth from C++, which allows it to access some of the code from our compute engine, which is helpful for things like 'preview' plots during the setup of the calculations. So, it's cool that you've done work in C as well, cause that would come in handy.
Our entire company is remote, and people work wherever is convenient for them. That works really well for us. We talk regularly throughout the week, and occasionally all get together in person. I think we have a good culture that's developed. We've tended to attract people who like to choose where they live, and often people move after they take the job, cause they finally can. We have a lot of outdoorsy people who have moved to Denver! Though, I personally live with my wife in the Bay Area.
Company commercialized in early 2018, and have gotten into healthy 7 figures on revenue, turning an annual profit with strong growth year-over-year. Still has a startup size and feel, but we are past the 'burning through cash' startup phase.
