We are seeking a Process Intelligence Data Engineer in our Thousand Oaks, CA headquarters or Tampa, FL or remote in the US to join our Automation team to help drive productivity through the company leveraging technology to unlock opportunities to stop, optimize processes and then automate as appropriate.
Key job responsibilities:
Enable end-to-end programs across Amgen with a focus on embedding generative AI into process re-engineering initiatives. Uses of AI are increasing across Amgen and the need to automate between processes and into advanced analytics to support data-driven decision making and drive operational efficiency will only increase. This role enhances Amgen's capabilities by optimizing processes, fostering agility, and leveraging Gen AI for data-driven decisions and process optimization
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
Technology Stack Advocacy: Promote and endorse the technology stack to pinpoint bottlenecks and initiate conversations for identifying potential issues in processes. This involves process discovery, definition, visualization, cataloging, and mining.
Leadership in Process Improvement: Take the lead in defining technical and process enhancements across various business units, including Finance, Accounting, Commercial, R&D, and Information Systems, as well as collaborating with vendors for more automated workflows.
Efficiency-Oriented Process Design: Apply process design techniques that enhance efficiency through methods such as process redesign, clean-sheeting, and design thinking.
Strategic Contributions: Contribute significantly to business success by fundamentally improving data and information management, operational processes, and workflow orchestration for product development.
Domain Knowledge and Requirements Translation: Gain deep domain knowledge, perform data modeling, and document business requirements through client sessions and workshops. Translate these requirements effectively for the technical design and development team.
Collaborative Solution Delivery: Collaborate closely with automation/software engineers, architects, and technical SMEs to deliver optimized digital solutions and enhance adoption rates.
Data Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines for collecting, processing, and storing structured and unstructured data from diverse sources.
Data Quality Assurance: Implement data quality and validation processes to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
Data Transformation and Infrastructure Management: Collaborate with data scientists and software engineers to understand data requirements and execute data transformation and feature extraction processes. Lead and maintain the cloud-based data infrastructure, making informed decisions on tooling, technologies, and architecture.
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Create comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, processes, and infrastructure to facilitate team-wide knowledge sharing.
Data Normalization and Mentorship: Collaborate with Data Scientists to normalize and clean data for robust data assets. Additionally, provide mentorship to junior data engineers on industry best practices within the Amgen data landscape.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree
OR
Master’s degree and 3 years of engineering experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of engineering experience
Or
Associate’s degree and 10 years of engineering experience
Or
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Process Improvement expertise in at least one function such as Finance, Accounting, Commercial, HR, R&D or Operations
Ability to implement various process mapping and mining technologies such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Celonis, MIRO etc. to base line business area performance!
Strong customer service focus with the proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members, stakeholders, and management. Demonstrate strong collaboration across all levels of the organization. Assertive and confident in raising action points with senior individuals with excellent spoken and written communication!
Experience working with automation and process intelligence software (e.g., Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, UiPath, Celonis, Signavio,etc.).
Experience supporting business process analysis with business owners and SMEs across multiple geographically disbursed teams.
Strong experience in business analysis and process mapping
Continuous improvement mindset (i.e., LEAN, Kaizen, etc.)

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $114,797-162,296 USD.
