Duties


  • Serves in a supporting role to the Administrative Officer (AO).

  • Compiles, consolidates, checks, and arranges funding data in requests to cover projected annual operating expenses.

  • Validates financial guidelines for the year and issues amounts to fund holders for planning purposes.

  • Utilizes and manipulates many independent systems in order to create, modify, and reconcile complicated data.

  • Receives and reviews obligating documents such as purchase orders, travel vouchers, utilities, requisitions, and contract documents and reviews for accounting code information, making appropriate corrections where required.

  • Ensures that obligations are recorded by sub-account.

  • Using CRIS Allocation Tracking System (CATS), adjusts funding/financial plans for terminated and replacement CRIS and MU reorganizations, redirections, or terminations.

  • Under the direction of the AO, provides training to location personnel on the proper use of CATS.

  • Conducts monthly reconciliations of prior years ?pending? documents (and entries), verifying the completeness and accuracy of the accounting data and taking timely corrective action where required.

  • As required, provides information used in the development of budget forecasts and overhead cost distribution methods between many different accounts and funding sources using electronic spreadsheets.

  • Verifies that CATS/Salary Management System (SAMS) agrees with FMMI?s Status of Funds General Ledger (SOF-GL) report by using CATS? ?Reconciliation to Official Accounting System? module.

  • Reviews submittals for accounts including IRC, REPAIR, Operations and Maintenance, and SRC to assure amounts are within established guidelines.

  • Discusses issues with AO and then investigates issues, corrects errors, and reports account discrepancies, incorporating information on pending allocations and estimates.

  • Working with conflicting data, resolves issue or refers to supervisor for discussion.

GS-07:

Qualifying experience for GS-07 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-06 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience compiling and consolidating funding data; participating in the preparation and revision of annual budget documents; utilizing automated systems to investigate and correct financial errors; and reconciling and reporting status of funds.



GS-08:



Qualifying experience for GS-08 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-07 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience compiling and consolidating funding data; participating in the preparation and revision of annual budget documents; utilizing automated systems to investigate and correct financial errors; reconciling and reporting status of funds; and formulating resolutions to budgetary issues.



Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
